PSD Product Description

under construction

<math>N(D)=N_o \left ( \frac{D}{D_o} \right )^\xi</math>

The Particle Size Distribution Slope (<math>\xi</math>) and Particle differential Number concentration No (for Do=2<math>\mu</math>m) were calculated following Kostadinov et.al. 2009.

The method was applied to SeaWiFS L3 monthly Rrs

file naming convention uses most of the original SeaWiFS file name, replacing RRS_rrs_*_9km.bz2 with .XiNo.nc.

SYYYYdddYYYYddd.L3m_MO.XiNo.nc

here YYYYdddYYYYddd is the year and 3-digit day-of-year, for the start and end of the month long composite file.
each netcdf (V4 "classic") file contains the variables Xi (<math>\xi</math>) and logNo (<math>log_{10}(N_o</math>) in the 2160x4320 SMI format these are single floats with a fill value of -999.
